Web 3.0 Accelerates As Leading Browser Expands Crypto Wallet Integration and Ethereum Blockchain Support

Web 3.0 browser Opera has released its latest update, Reborn 3, with new features including direct access to decentralized applications (DApps) on the Ethereum blockchain, an enhanced built-in VPN service, ad blocker, snapshot tool and design changes. Opera’s Reborn 3 also includes a native cryptocurrency wallet for Windows, macOS and Linux, a follow-up to the crypto wallet integration on Opera’s Android app in December 2018.

According to Techopedia,

“Web 3.0 is slated to be the new paradigm in web interaction and will mark a fundamental change in how developers create websites, but more importantly, how people interact with those websites. Computer scientists and internet experts believe that this new paradigm in web interaction will further make people’s online lives easier and more intuitive as smarter applications such as better search functions give users exactly what they are looking for, since it will be akin to an artificial intelligence which understands context rather than simply comparing keywords, as is currently the case.”

Opera users can access the cryptocurrency wallet through the Opera browser on a computer. According to the official announcement, the Crypto Wallet sidebar panel syncs with a user’s Opera for Android Crypto Wallet.

“Opera now also includes Web 3-support and a Crypto Wallet, an important new feature. It allows you to browse and make transactions on the blockchain-based Internet of the future, also known as Web 3. This makes Opera the first ever Web 3-ready computer browser. “

“You can make transactions with the Crypto Wallet sidebar panel on Opera for computers and confirm the payment with your Opera for Android browser.”

The Web 3.0 explorer feature in Opera also allows access to Ethereum-based DApps.

“Opera’s wallet will automatically detect and show ERC20 compliant tokens, which some DApps may use, as an in-game currency, for example. Opera will also show any crypto collectibles you may have (ERC721), sometimes referred to as NFTs.”

“Click on them to see them in full screen, you can also send them directly from your wallet.”

Opera supports Microsoft Windows, Android, iOS, macOS and Linux operating systems. It is currently the fifth most widely used web browser capturing a 3.28% market share overall, and a 4.31% market share on mobile, according to data compiled by StatCounter.
