Tron CEO Justin Sun Gives Ethereum’s Vitalik Buterin a Crypto Shout-out Before Giving Up the Bitcoin Lightning Torch

The Bitcoin Lightning Torch is a small emblematic amount of Bitcoin that’s being passed from person to person to show just how easy it is to move the world’s largest cryptocurrency around the globe. On a non-technical level, “passing the torch” has turned into a team sport. Each new recipient who holds the proverbial hot potato has to find someone new to play the game.

But finding the next player isn’t always that easy. Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao waited for tech leader Elon Musk to pick up the torch, but to no avail. It soon ended up in the hands of Justin Sun, founder of Tron, who then gave another shout-out to Musk. Sun also tapped crypto-friendly Kobe Bryant, who appeared at Tron’s Nitron Summit 2019 in San Francisco.

Crickets.

Sun also lit up a little sweet flame for Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, to see if he would grab the torch.

Buterin’s response:

Crickets.

He did not pick up the torch. Apparently he has no more embers left to burn for Sun. The two have already flamed out many times before, exchanging jabs over their competing blockchain platforms.

As the bonds grow deep and the crypto magic blazes, torchbearer Justin Sun has sent the symbolic $100 in BTC on the move again, bestowing it in the sturdy hands of Erik Voorhees, CEO of crypto exchange ShapeShift.

Confirmed.

Confirmed receipt. I have never held so much power in my hands… will think of the appropriate next target.

Perhaps the torch will cycle back around to Buterin. Or maybe Musk or Bryant will grab it after it touches a few more luminaries in the crypto space – spreading the power of team spirit, the invincibility of crypto and the radical vision to reimagine every industry on planet Earth as a more efficient, more decentralized and less bureaucratic system.

Who knows – maybe the torch can make it all the way to Mars.
