Global payment settlement firm Ripple is appointing a veteran in the banking and financial payment industry to lead its efforts to scale in Southeast Asia.
According to Finews.Asia, Kevin Lee will spearhead Ripple’s expansion strategy in the region as the firm targets its customer base in Asia Pacific.
Lee has years of experience in payment settlements, fraud and risk management, and data and digital banking solutions spanning across the globe.
Prior to his new appointment by Ripple, Lee held senior positions at Mastercard, Visa and outsourcing services provider Fidelity National Information Services.
As Ripple’s new lead in Southeast Asia, Lee says,
“We want to enable money to flow across borders as quickly as data does, by empowering players in the remittance and money transfer market.”
With nearly half of Ripple’s clients in its RippleNet payment network based in Asia Pacific, the firm has identified the region as a key location for its global expansion efforts.
The network also recently added digital money transfer service Azimo as a partner to deliver payments in the Philippines, and has partnered with remittance firms Sentbe, Hanpass and WireBarey to provide payment settlement services in South Korea.
