Crypto Thieves Impersonate Joe Rogan in New Bitcoin (BTC) Giveaway Scam

Crypto scammers are now impersonating Joe Rogan, the popular podcaster and host of The Joe Rogan Experience, in an attempt to steal people’s Bitcoin.

The whale watching bot Whale Alert warned its 236,000 followers on Monday that someone sent 1 BTC worth $9,195 to a confirmed giveaway scam. The scammers are pretending to be Rogan and right-wing commentator Ben Shapiro in an effort to trick Bitcoin owners into sending their BTC to an address in the hope that they will get more back in return.

“Joe Rogan and Ben Shapiro believe that blockchain and bitcoin will make the world more fair. To speed up the process of cryptocurrency mass adoption, we decided to run a 5,000 BTC giveaway.”

According to Scam Alert, the malicious actors set up an elaborate website complete with a counter that updates visitors on the number of BTC that will supposedly be given away. The fraudsters have so far raked in $30,944 through five payments averaging $6,188 each after launching the ruse this month.

Crypto thieves may be moving on from pretending to be Elon Musk. Last month, a Bitcoin scam that digitally impersonates the Tesla CEO by using vanity wallets reportedly managed to steal $2 million worth of BTC.
